The Stearman N2S PT-13/PT-17

Just prior to the beginning of WWII Lloyd Stearman of the Stearman Aircraft Corp. was commissioned by General Hap Arnold to design and build a primary trainer, suitable for all branches of the military. The final production aircraft, Model 75, was an inexpensive, very rugged, tandem, two place, open cockpit, fabric covered, bi-wing aircraft.

The Utah History of Stearman 87V

Stearman 75-8291 was completed on August 11, 1942 and delivered to Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, Texas. 75-8291 was assigned Bureau Number 43197 and served through 1947. It was sold as surplus and worked for many years as a sprayer and duster. …and crashed in the Oquirrh Mountains of Utah on August 7th, 1986.

Lockheed PV2 Harpoon

In 1937 Lockheed Aircraft proposed a modification of the Lockheed 18 to create a light bomber. The initial production was called the A-28 Hudson and put into service by the Royal Air Force. In 1941 the Hudson design was enlarged to create the PV-1 Ventura. The Harpoon was a major redesign of the Ventura with the wing area increased from 551 ft² to 686 ft² giving an increased load-carrying capability.
